Hippie Subculture

Hippie subculture was originally a youth movement in the U.S during the 60's which quickly spread around the world as a subculture.

The term comes from the word hipster, "Hipsters were cool. That is, they exhibited a mellow, laid-back attitude that is still called hip."*

Hippie statement was about breaking free from society and pursuing liberation and piece.

The trend was long hair for men, the idea of vegetarian was introduced and colorful clothing.
Fashion trend was bell-bottom pants, flair jeans, long skirts for woman, blouses and clothing of various design and colour. Also the tie dye trend was introduced on various garments.

Hippies embraced the sexual revolution abut people accused them of being promiscuous and having wild sex orgies. Hippies did involve themselves in temporary sexual relations and sexual experiments unlike generations before them.
"Sex is full of lies. The body tries to tell the truth, but it's usually too battered with rules to be heard. We cripple ourselves with lies. Most people have no idea of what they're missing, our society places a supreme value on control, on hiding what you feel. It mocks primitive culture and prides itself on the suppression of natural instincts and impulses." Jim Morrison.

This subculture used drugs to explore the states of consciousness and experimented large amount of marijuana and LSD. Drugs where portrayed as the modern technology. They where led to believe that drugs soon would cure all diseases.
"Purple Haze all in my brain, lately things don't seem the same. Actin' funny but I don't know why. 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky." Jimi Hendrix
